The two Walworth County sheriff’s deputies who shot a burglary suspect have been identified according to a Walworth County Sheriff’s News Release. Sheriff Wayne Blanchard who has 19 years of service and Deputy Sheriff Peter Krueger who has 2 and a half years of service were identified in the news release. The suspect, Christopher Czerpak of Whitewater was also identified and was charged in Walworth County court with armed burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon which are both felonies and criminal damage to property which is a misdemeanor. Czerpak had allegedly broken into his estranged wife’s apartment early Monday morning and left after he couldn’t find her, she called police and they later observed him near the apartment. Police attempted to speak with the suspect but he ran away on foot, pointing a gun at police. Deputies shot the suspect and a loaded handgun was found in his possession. Czerpak was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. A cash bond for 100 thousand dollars was set in Walworth county court and his initial appearance is set for July 31st.
