Janesville Murder Trial Postponed Until February

The second trial in a Janesville murder case has been delayed again because Rock County courtrooms are not yet equipped to handle COVID 19 issues. Julian Collazo is accused of killing Christine Scaccia-Lubeck in 2017 and the first trial ended in a mistrial when the jury couldn’t agree on a verdict. Judge McCrory said the courts Covid 19 safety measures won’t be in place in September when the retrial was originally scheduled to happen. The Judge has not ruled on a defense motion to move the trial to another county or to bring a jury in from another county because of the publicity of the trial. The defense asked to delay that motion until the details of how the trial will be conducted are released. Collazo is being held in Rock County Jail on a 500 thousand dollar cash bond and the new trial date is February 8th.
