According to an update from the Village of Mukwonago, Holz Parkway and Miniwaukan Park Pond is currently undergoing a dredging project, which includes excavation/dredging, stockpiling, and grading of sediment from three existing ponds. A stormwater pond helps slow the rate of runoff from storm water, protects neighborhoods from flooding and improves the quality of water that exits the pond to the neighboring streams, rivers, and lakes. Stormwater ponds should be dredged when the permanent pool volume is half-filled with sediment because the pond is no longer effectively removing sediment and pollutants once filled to that level. The disturbed areas around the stormwater ponds and the stockpiles will be restored using native and sedge meadow seed mix and erosion mat to complete construction.
