Former Jefferson County Deputy Back in Court on New Burglary Charge

Former Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Janelle Gericke was back in court Wednesday facing a new burglary charge. Gericke was caught on camera inside a Jefferson home on Feb 24th around 8:30 in the morning. The owner of the home received an alert on his phone from the security company that someone was trying to get inside and that they had called the Jefferson Police department. The footage shows a white woman wearing black boots, black pants and jacket, glasses and a dark knit cap but the homeowner believed it was Gericke because he knows her personally. When questioned by police Gericke told them she’d been at home with her daughter but she was wearing something similar to the video. She was out on 10 thousand dollar bond in her previous charge of burglary, on Wednesday a 2 thousand dollar cash bond was added and she was put under home confinement with gps monitoring. Under the GPS monitoring Gericke will not be permitted to leave her property with the exceptions of counseling and emergencies, the conditions of the original bond still apply, her next court appearance is April 16th.
