A Federal Judge in Wisconsin declined a request Wednesday by Republicans to dismiss a lawsuit seeking changes in the law to make it easier to vote in the state primary in August and the presidential election. Judge William Conley said that the case should move ahead quickly so it can be resolved ahead of the elections and that he was unlikely to rule in favor of Democrats on issues that have been upheld repeatedly in federal courts including the law requiring Wisconsin voters to provide documents proving residence when registering to vote. A June 29th hearing has been set to discuss the lawsuit with a fourth federal lawsuit filed by disability rights Wisconsin seeking other changes to make it easier to vote, Republicans oppose all of the lawsuits.
