A Child sexual assault cold case from two decades ago has finally been solved and added jail time to a Beloit man convicted of multiple child sexual assaults. Jason Smith was sentenced to 25 additional years in prison as well as 10 years of post release supervision. The case only heated back up after a push in 2018 to test sexual assault kits. Smith pled no contest in February to two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child with use of a dangerous weapon for assaulting a 13 year old in July of 2000, he is currently serving a 50 year sentence for the October 2000 sexual assault of two teenage girls in Beloit and will serve both sentences consecutively.
