Last week Thursday at 4:01pm, Officers from the Janesville Police Department responded to a welfare check on young children in the 400 block of N. Washington Street. According to a press release, officers located two children unattended inside a residence. They attempted to contact the homeowner by knocking on the door and using a siren from a squad car. They received no answer. Officers made entry into the home and located the mother, Hailey Brown asleep in bed. Officers located, in plain view, several items of drug
paraphernalia, marijuana, and heroin. The living conditions inside the home were deplorable. Officers took custody of the children until other family members and Child Protective Services arrived. The children were turned over to responsible family members. Hailey Brown was arrested with charges including:
Neglecting a child, 2 counts; Possession of Narcotic Drugs; Possession of THC; Misdemeanor Bail Jumping 2 counts; Possess Drug Paraphernalia
