Lake Geneva alderman voted against requiring face masks in the community for the second time. The issue was decided by a 5-4 vote with the mayor casting the deciding vote to block the mask mandate for visitors and others in the area. Over 2000 people had signed a petition urging officials to require masks as a way of protecting tourists and residents and many spoke out against the mandate at the meeting. The city council voted in May not to require face masks shortly after the state supreme court ruling removed other health safeguards. Walworth county recently passed 1000 cases double the number that had been recorded a month earlier.
